When you consider the many challenges of a modern lifestyle, dropping the kids at school can now be as treacherous as negotiating a mountain pass. Which is why Prado has been designed to provide refined comfort, rugged dependability and smooth driving, whether in town, off-roador out on the highway. The (September) 2015 Prado update had significant changes to the engine, transmission delivering more torque and power.
Along with 7 SRS airbags all round, Prado is equipped with advanced technologies and systems to help prevent accidents from happening in the first place. This includes Vehicle Stability Control which helps with steering and Active Traction Control which manages the amount of torque distributed to each wheel preventing tyres from spinning. The 'Safe-T-Cell' is a cleverly engineered 'crumple zone' which cushions and absorbs impact. There's many more features like ABS, Blind Spot monitor to ensure you and your family is kept safe.
Replacing the 3.0 litre Turbo-diesel is a new high-torque 2.8-litre four-cylinder engine which boosts output with up to 450Nm of torque while reducing fuel use and emissions. Prado's V6 petrol engine also benefits from refinements extracting more power, peaking at 207kW, while lowering emissions by 1.8 per cent1 and achieving Euro 5 certification for the first time in Australia. The 4.0-litre DOHC engine gains new injectors that improve the fuel flow and atomisation.
The Toyota Prado is one of the toughest, most advanced 4WDs you could drive. Yet in spite of all the power and grunt off road, it is also an incredibly comfortable and practical road car. Bursting at the seams with smart technology, the Prado offers you the best of both motoring worlds. Prado features Hill-start Assist Control plus Bluetooth, keyless entry, parking sensors, radar cruise control, satellite navigation, a mullti- information display and Audio Visual Navigation (pictured above). In GXL, Kakadu and VX models this system also allows you to control Satellite Navigation.
