Toyota Yaris Updated with New Style & Safety

Toyota Yaris 2017 Update

March 2017 Toyota has adopted new styling and improved safety for a revised Yaris range that is set to add further impetus to the success of Toyota's small hatchback.

Advanced safety features are available across the range - a pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert and automatic high beam. These technologies are standard on the top-of-the-range ZR and a $650 option on the Ascent and mid-range SX variants. The car's new exterior styling, with significant changes to the front and rear, presents a more active and dynamic look while also communicating a more refined direction. The interior has also been freshened with modern gloss black ornamentation.

All-New Toyota C-HR to Arrive Late February

New Toyota C-HR now available at Northpoint Toyota

Feb 2017 Toyota's head-turning C-HR - an SUV with striking coupe-like styling, engaging driving dynamics and advanced cabin quality - will be launched in Australia in late February 2017.

The company's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb, announcing the on-sale timing, said the C-HR is designed to stand out within the Toyota line-up and in its segment.

 + MORE ON C-HR

Visit our C-HR Showroom for detailed Information and images.

"C-HR takes a fresh approach with its extroverted design, powerful yet fuel-efficient turbocharged petrol engine and dynamics that reward driving enthusiasts," Mr Cramb said.

"It is stunning proof of the determination by Toyota to encourage greater stylistic freedom and engineering creativity in order to achieve eye-catching designs and enhanced driving pleasure," he said.

The C-HR reaps the dynamic and safety benefits of being constructed on a highly rigid Toyota New Global Architecture-based platform (TNGA).

Global chief engineer Hiroyuki Koba, a keen driver, strategically adapted the GA-C platform to confirm it met his requirements to suit the C-HR's design and driving performance.

Mr Koba travelled thousands of kilometres in development models, particularly on European roads, to bring to life his vision of remarkable driving precision and comfort.C-HR Dash

The GA-C platform allows for a low centre of gravity, which results in an engaging drive experience, outstanding handling and agility, and strictly controlled body roll.

As a new premium entrant, C-HR will be the first Toyota vehicle in Australia equipped with a powerful yet efficient four-cylinder 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

"This impressive engine is tuned to deliver exactly the fluent, engaging driving behaviour that C-HR customers will demand," Mr Cramb said.

"It offers performance levels equivalent to a significantly larger engine, but with lower fuel consumption and emissions."

Turbocharging elicits engaging responsiveness and acceleration with peak torque of 185Nm available from just 1,500rpm all the way to 4,000rpm.

TNGA allows the C-HR engine to be placed low and angled slightly rearward, helping designers secure a low bonnet line as well as contributing to the low centre of gravity.

On front-drive variants, the turbo engine can be mated to another new system - C-HR's intelligent manual transmission. It automatically increases the engine revs when moving down the gears to ensure smooth gear shifts. The system also works when shifting up, improving comfort for the driver and passengers by reducing clutch shock.

All variants, including all-wheel-drive models, can be driven through Toyota's continuously variable transmission, which offers two modes - fully automatic with seamless shifting or a sequential seven-speed Sport mode.

C-HR RearReflecting the demands of its target customer, the Toyota C-HR will be offered in Australia with two highly equipped premium grades.

Advanced driver assist safety features will be standard, including a pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert with steering control, automatic high beam and a reversing camera.

Top-of-the range customers will be able to specify heated seats, a smart entry and start system, privacy glass, leather-accented upholstery and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Australians buy more SUVs from Toyota than any other brand. Last year, Toyota set a new record by selling 59,412 SUVs - more than 18,000 vehicles ahead of its nearest rival. Toyota is the only brand to exceed 50,000 SUV sales in a year.

Facelift, Power & Ecoomy Boost for Toyota Kluger

New 2017 Kluger now available at Northpoint Toyota

Feb 2017 - Toyota will introduce added performance, refreshed styling and improved convenience to its family-oriented Kluger SUV when a facelifted range arrives in Australia in late February 2017.

Kluger receives a performance infusion with gains to power and torque from its V6 powertrain, which is now equipped with direct-injection engine technology.

The updated V6 petrol engine delivers improved acceleration and overtaking with a substantial increase in power of almost 8.5 per cent to 218kW while torque rises to 350Nm.

 + MORE ON KLUGER UPDATE

Making best use of the engine’s upgraded performance and efficiency, the Kluger now employs a new direct-shift 8-speed automatic transmission.

The eight ratios, compared with six previously, benefit Kluger’s performance while improving fuel consumption and emissions by at least 10 per cent1 on the official combined cycle.

Mid-spec GXL variants gain an 8-inch audio screen, satellite navigation2, digital radio (DAB+)3 and a power back door with the convenience of an independently operated glass hatch.Kluger 2017 rear

Top-of-the range Grande expands its suite of comprehensive safety features with rear-cross-traffic alert and supplements its lane departure alert with steering control and sway warning4.

Grande, newly specified with front parking sensors, also gains a panoramic view monitor that uses four cameras – front, rear and in the side mirrors – to take visibility and safety to new heights.

Styling updates convey a more elegant presence with the new front grille on GX and GXL variants featuring a silver-painted finish, while Grande receives a painted chrome finish.

Tail-lights have been redesigned for a sleeker look and now feature standard LEDs while the Grande is distinguished by a rear bumper chrome garnish.

Newly designed alloy wheels (including spares) are 18-inch with five double spokes on GX, 18-inch with seven outer and seven turbine-style inner spokes on GXL, and 19-inch with 12-outer and 12 black inner spokes on Grande. Three new exterior body colours include silver, brown and an additional red hue.

Inside, Toyota has enhanced quality with premium materials, soft-touch surfaces, bright accents and greater refinement with silver metallic garnishes on GX and GXL. Grande is offered with silver woodgrain-look garnishes and blue LED ambient lighting around the dash and doors that add a touch of high-tech elegance.

Toyota Australia’s executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the facelifted Kluger expands driver enjoyment and offers an even better package for families.

Kluger 2017 Engine“The latest updates to Kluger are focused on areas that owners will appreciate – enhanced driveability, quicker overtaking, substantially improved economy and the added convenience of new features,” Mr Cramb said.

The improved lane departure alert4 on Grande variants adds steering assistance. If the system judges the vehicle is about to move out of its lane and the driver has not responded sufficiently to a warning buzzer and light, it will apply light steering force to assist the driver to bring the vehicle back on course.

The system has also been advanced so that it can warn the driver if it detects swaying, which may occur due to driver drowsiness, inattention or distraction. It does this by combining two pieces of information – data from the camera about the vehicle's position within the lane, and data on the driver's steering operations.

Kluger is offered in two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.

Kluger AWD variants use a Dynamic Torque Control system to maximise traction, cornering stability and driver control while also saving fuel. The compact, lightweight system uses information on vehicle speed, yaw rate and steering and throttle angles to control torque distribution automatically between the front and rear axles. It saves fuel by driving only the front wheels when the vehicle is cruising, switching to AWD when needed via an electromagnetically controlled coupling in the rear differential housing. Pre-torque control can direct 10 per cent of the available torque to the rear wheels as soon as the driver starts to turn the steering wheel. Yaw-rate feedback control can feed additional torque to the rear wheels every six milliseconds, ensuring an ideal torque split – up to a maximum of 50 per cent.

Every Kluger is fitted with seven airbags, reversing camera, reverse-parking sensors, anti-skid brakes with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, stability and traction control, and hill-start assist control.

Other standard features include air-conditioning, cruise control, electric power steering, six-speaker display audio with Toyota Link5 connected mobility, front foglamps, privacy glass, power-adjustable exterior mirrors and a 72-litre fuel tank.

In addition to its new features, GXL variants have additional features including three-zone climate-control air-conditioning, keyless entry and ignition, roof rails, premium steering wheel and shift knob, and leather-accented seats with heated front seats and a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.

Grande includes a suite of advanced safety features including a pre-collision safety system with autonomous emergency braking, active cruise control, lane departure alert, blind spot monitor and auto high beam.

Additional premium Grande features include a tilt-and-slide moonroof, ventilated front seats with two-position memory for the driver’s seat, nine-inch rear-seat entertainment system with Blu-ray player, heated exterior mirrors with memory function and puddle lamps, electro-chromatic interior mirror, second-row retractable sunshades and a back-guide monitor for the reversing camera.

Corolla Joins Hybrid Line Up- June 2016

New Corolla Hybrid now available at Northpoint Toyota

Corolla Hybrid is Here - Great Value & Price

Toyota has combined the popularity of its Corolla hatch with the company's dominant hybrid technology to launch a new model that delivers impressive fuel economy, nimble handling, strong value and keen pricing.

Apart from Toyota's Prius, Corolla Hybrid offers the best fuel economy in its class with official consumption of just 4.1 litres/100km*, providing a theoretical driving range of almost 1,100km & even further around town.

 + MORE ON COROLLA HYBRID

The new Corolla hybrid is equipped with driver-focused features not offered on any other Corolla in Australia, starting with the handling, stability and comfort advantages of double-wishbone rear suspension.

It is the only Corolla fitted with electronically controlled brakes, larger 296mm x 28mm ventilated front discs, three selectable drive modes (power, economy and electric) and a hybrid display in the instrument cluster.

Available in a single highly specified grade, Corolla hybrid picks up premium features from the range-topping ZR - dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, auto-levelling bi-LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps and keyless smart entry and ignition.

Satellite navigation#, SUNA live traffic updates^, Toyota Link connected mobility** and a colour 4.2-inch thin-film transistor multi-information display - all standard features on Corolla SX and ZR - are included in the hybrid offering.Corolla Hybrid Display Hub

Reflecting its comprehensive equipment list, the Corolla hybrid with standard automatic (CVT) transmission is keenly priced from $26,990## - placing it between the petrol-only SX and ZR hatches.

It is the fifth hybrid car in Toyota's local line-up, joining Camry, Prius, Prius c and Prius v and arrives just four months shy of the 50th anniversary of the launch of the first Corolla in Japan in October 1966.

Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the new Corolla is the third hybrid model introduced in a little over a year, along with the latest Camry and the fourth-generation Prius.

"Corolla hybrid offers Australian motorists all the advantages of the world's all-time best-selling car and the world's best-selling hybrid technology," Mr Cramb said.

"The hybrid version of the popular Corolla represents great value for money with its impressive equipment levels, exceptionally low running costs and the proven performance and fuel-efficiency of Toyota's full hybrid technology," he said.

"With unique features such as its independent rear suspension, Corolla hybrid will also deliver the driving enjoyment, remarkable quietness and smooth operation that will make it an ideal choice for everyday motoring."

The Corolla's Hybrid Synergy Drive system delivers combined output of 100kW from its Euro 5 certified Atkinson Cycle 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and 60kW electric motor.

Efficiency features for the petrol engine include cooled exhaust-gas recirculation, an electric water pump and a compression ratio of 13.0:1 (compared with 10.0:1 on petrol-only Corolla).

Official fuel consumption of 4.1 litres/100km* compares with 6.1 litres/100km* for automatic Corolla petrol hatches. This expands the theoretical maximum driving range by almost 280km to 1,097km, even with the fuel tank slimmed from 50 to 45 litres.

Around town, the official fuel economy at 3.9 litres/100km* is more than twice as good as that achieved by the already efficient automatic petrol-only variants at 8.0 litres/100km*, boosting the driving potential on a single tank to more than 1,150km.

Carbon dioxide emissions are lower by similar margins, falling to just 96 grams/km (combined), 95 grams/km (highway) and 91 grams/km (urban)*.

Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive technology is capable of operating in petrol and electric modes alone, or a combination of both, depending on driving conditions.

The newest addition to the Corolla range retains the standard hatch's 360 litres of luggage space with the hybrid battery placed under the rear seat.

Other standard features include seven airbags, reversing camera, stability and traction control, anti-skid brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, black fabric upholstery and any of the eight exterior paint colours available across the Corolla range.

Corolla hybrid's arrival follows news that Toyota has sold more than nine million hybrid vehicles globally. Prius leads the world with cumulative sales of more than 3.7 million cars while Camry is Australia's best-selling hybrid vehicle.

Toyota is also offering the Corolla Ascent Sport with a $1,000 option that offers satellite navigation, SUNA live traffic updates and expanded Toyota Link connected mobility services.

Now in its 11th generation, Corolla sales have topped 44 million globally. It is the most successful car in Toyota's Australian range with 1.35 million sales since it went on sale here almost half a century ago in 1967.

Corolla has been Australia's best-selling car for each of the past three years. Every new Corolla is covered by Toyota Service Advantage capped-price servicing at a maximum of $140 per service^^ for the first three years or 60,000 kilometres.

Camry Update June 2016

Updated 2016 Toyota Camry SX at Northpoint Toyota

Camry Upgrade Focuses on Sporty SX

Toyota has updated its seven-model Camry range with the bulk of improvements focused on the already impressive equipment list of the sporty Atara SX.

User-friendly additions to the SX include satellite navigation* and expanded Toyota Link# connected mobility operated via a larger seven-inch screen that is also the command centre for the newly fitted JBL premium audio system and digital (DAB+) radio".

 + More on CAMRY UPDATE

Cosmetic enhancements add to the sporty appeal of Atara SX with stylish new 18-inch alloy wheels and eye-catching red inserts along the lower edge of the front grille and rear-bumper diffuser.

Atara SX also gains a convenient power sunshade for the back windscreen and its reversing camera+ image now offers superimposed predictive guidelines that move as the driver turns the steering wheel for easier manoeuvring.

The revised Camry range went on sale from June 6 with the only price change being an extra $1,500 for the Atara SX, which is more than justified by the added equipment.

Every Camry, starting with Altise, is now fitted with ISOFIX attachment points for child safety seats in the rear. Camry's petrol and petrol-electric engines have also been certified to the higher Euro 5 standard.

All Camry Atara models now have front and rear corner parking sensors.

The interior of the petrol Atara S is upgraded with the addition of a full-colour 4.2-inch thin-film transistor multi-information display. It conveys a wide range of vehicle functions and coordinates with the multimedia system to display audio, navigation, warnings and other communications.

At the top of the range, the Atara SL features new technology with a wireless phone charger^ for compatible phones. Some phones need a Qi induction loop or a special cover. The 18-inch alloy wheel package, which includes a sporty suspension set-up, is optional on the SL.

Toyota's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the latest upgrades across the range demonstrated the company's commitment to continuous improvement and the long-term future of Camry.

"Toyota will continue to build on Camry's success with advances in technology, safety, comfort and convenience, value and driving enjoyment, ensuring it remains one of Australia's favourite cars for many years to come," Mr Cramb said.

"Families and business owners will appreciate the added appeal of the new features, while the introduction of the new-technology wireless phone charger will give Camry an edge in the competitive prestige segment above $35,000," he said.

Camry is in its 23rd consecutive year as Australia's best-selling mid-size car - an unbroken run that began in 1994.

Every Camry has a five-star safety rating with standard fitment of seven airbags, reversing camera, vehicle stability and traction control, and anti-skid brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution.

Camry Altise, Atara S and Atara SL are available with 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol or hybrid petrol-electric drivetrains. The petrol-only Atara SX is the most agile and responsive Camry ever built due to its dynamic package that was conceived and developed locally.

The 2.5-litre petrol engine develops 133kW mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Dual exhausts on petrol Atara models lift output to 135kW. Fuel use is 7.9 litres/100km**.

Hybrid variants develop a maximum 151kW from the combination of the petrol engine, 105kW electric drive motor and electronic continuously variable transmission, sipping just 5.2 litres/100km** - a figure typical of a much smaller and less powerful car.

Altise models have a folding key, 6.1-inch display audio and static guidelines for the rear-camera display. Altise hybrid has keyless entry and ignition and auto dual-zone air-conditioning.

From Atara S upwards, all variants adopt these features as well as a power-adjustable driver's seat, leather-accented steering wheel and Toyota Link connected mobility. All Atara petrol grades employ paddle gear-shifters mounted on the steering wheel and dual exhausts.

Atara SX's sporty nature is further highlighted by suspension settings that simultaneously provide impressive body control and ride comfort. A fast-ratio electric power steering system delivers a connected driving feel. The model also features a sports mesh grille, rear lip spoiler and leather-accented sports seats.

Atara SL is equipped with advanced safety technologies that use radar sensors and a windscreen-mounted camera: pre-collision safety system, active cruise control and lane departure alert. Its other features that contribute to safety and convenience include automatic high beam, rain-sensing wipers, blind-spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert ++.

The range-topping SL variants also offer leather-accented power-adjustable front seats with driver's memory function, premium audio with a seven-inch screen and satellite navigation&. Atara SL has a rear-lip spoiler. A tilt-and-slide moonroof is optional for Atara SX and SL.

Camry is covered by Toyota Service Advantage with up to five standard scheduled services at $140## each during the first four years or 75,000km (whichever occurs first).

New Prius - March 2016

New 2016 Toyota Prius

New Toyota Prius is Fun to Drive

Toyota has released a new Prius in Australia that features an engaging drive and dramatic new styling as well as the biggest improvement in fuel economy between the hybrid icon's four generations.

New Prius is the first car to benefit from the Toyota New Generation Architecture philosophy that delivers cutting-edge dimensions in terms of its platform, design, powertrain and technology.

 + More on NEW PRIUS

Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the new Prius is a genuine breakthrough car that defines modern motoring.

"Toyota has changed the entire focus and perspective of Prius by evoking a more emotional response with a car that is fun to see, touch and drive," Mr Cramb said.

"New Prius is a mainstream car that advances its driving dynamics and driveway appeal while also delivering substantially improved innovation and efficiency."

The new Prius platform results in improved body control with a more rigid body structure and lower centre of gravity.

A redesigned front suspension and a new double-wishbone set-up at the rear improve road-holding, stability, handling and comfort.

Futuristic and stylish design cues create a high visual impact, resulting in a sleeker, better proportioned design that conveys a strong character and builds on the image-making quality of Prius.

A low-swooping bonnet, dynamic beltline, instantly recognisable triangular profile and a rear spoiler contribute to one of the world's best co-efficient of drag values: just 0.24.

The cabin offers impressive flair and simple ingenuity with a wrap-around instrument panel, a tablet-like seven-inch touch screen and quality details including soft-touch materials and striking white inserts that contrast with the black upholstery.

Every aspect of the hybrid system is even more efficient: the 1.8-litre petrol engine uses less fuel; the electric motors are smaller, lighter and more efficient; mechanical losses in the transmission are reduced; the power control unit is improved; and the hybrid battery is lighter and smaller.

As a result, new Prius has been certified for Australia with combined cycle fuel economy of just 3.4 litres/100km** - an impressive gain of 0.5 litres or 12.8 per cent.

Efficiency is only half the story as Toyota's engineers have markedly improved the hybrid driving experience, making it even more responsive, quieter under acceleration and more intuitive.

Improvements throughout the car have ensured overall performance is maintained with the adoption of a more efficient 90kW combined system output. Under partial load, which means in day-to-day driving, the driver will notice that the car is much more responsive.

Engineers have improved the eco, normal and power driving modes. To encourage greater use of the eco mode, its operation is more like the previous normal mode while power mode gains a learning function that adjusts acceleration settings and engine braking to match the driver's style.

Prius fulfills its role as high-tech ambassador with advances that provide more comprehensive information, improve safety and add to convenience.

Safety systems now standard across the range involve four technologies: pre-collision system, active cruise control, lane departure alert and auto high beam. Prius i-Tech gains blind-spot monitor* and rear cross-traffic alert that warn drivers of hazards they cannot see from the wheel.

The way information is communicated to the driver has also been enhanced, with a larger full-colour head-up display and the use of two 4.2-inch multi-information displays in the instrument panel.

An innovative air-conditioning system detects if there is a front passenger; if not, it will focus its energy on the driver alone, which can help improve fuel economy.

Smaller and lighter hybrid system components have enabled the nickel-metal hydride battery to be relocated under the rear seat, expanding luggage space to 457 litres (502 litres in i-Tech).

Every Prius is fitted with seven airbags, reversing camera, vehicle stability and traction control, anti-skid brakes, emergency brake signal, hill-start assist and smart entry and start.

The standard Prius is fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels with stylish new aerodynamic covers to promote fuel efficiency. In addition to the four new safety technologies and colour head-up display, it also gains auto-levelling bi-LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, 10-speaker JBL audio system, Toyota Link# connected mobility, three-spoke leather-accented steering wheel, premium door trim and a wireless phone charger##. These added features more than account for a $2,500 price increase to $34,990^.

Prius i-Tech, in addition to new safety technology, is fitted with stylish 17-inch alloy wheels with resin inserts that reduce weight. Its features also include satellite navigation and leather-accented seats with eight-way power adjustment for the driver's seat and front-seat heaters. The i-Tech price is $1,000 lower at $42,990^.

Prius is covered by capped-price servicing, Toyota Service Advantage^^, at a maximum of $140 per service.

Since the first Prius was released in Japan in late 1997, Toyota has sold more than 8.6 million hybrid vehicles around the world. Sales of Prius alone have exceeded 3.6 million vehicles, including almost 20,000 in Australia.

New Look Corolla Hatch - June 2015

2015 New Look Corolla Hatch

More Style, Sharper Dynamics, Less Fuel

Toyota has revamped the styling, driving enjoyment and features of its Corolla hatch while improving fuel economy* across the range.

An extensive exterior redesign introduces two distinctive new looks to the hatch versions of Australia's best-selling car, increasing Corolla's appeal to a wider range of customers.

Ascent and Ascent Sport grades receive a classic European-inspired outline while the higher SX and ZR grades adopt a sportier character that incorporates a body kit.

 More on NEW Corolla HATCH

Corolla's more dynamic exterior proportions are complemented by interior upgrades including new audio systems, suspension refinements focused on ride comfort and efficiency gains that cut fuel use by as much as 7.6 per cent*.

Sensory quality in the cabin has been raised with a cleaner design for the dash panel and centre console along with new instrument gauges, fresh upholstery and satin chrome-plated ornaments.

Corolla Ascent hatch is now fitted with a reversing camera, making it standard across the entire Corolla range. The camera's image is displayed on new touch-screen monitors that are also used to operate the upgraded audio system.

The new designs, added equipment and engineering updates are accompanied by price increases of just $300 on Ascent and Ascent Sport while top-of-the-line ZR is reduced by $1,000, or more than 3.3 per cent. SX prices remain steady.

Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the latest updates will give Corolla a decisive competitive edge and strengthen its claim to a third consecutive year as Australia's best-selling car.

"Corolla hatch customers now have a clear choice between two compelling new designs: classic or sporty - both of which deliver a greater presence and visually broader stance," Mr Cramb said.

"Buyers will also be attracted by a more stylish interior, under-the-skin tweaks that dial up the fun-to-drive factor and lower fuel consumption that will result in an even lower cost of ownership," he said.

Two new exterior designs
The two new looks for Corolla hatch result in a car that is 55mm longer, giving stylists the opportunity to craft a more dynamic silhouette.

Longer overhangs (35mm front, 20mm rear) improve the overall balance of each design, aided by a sweeping line from the headlights to the tail-lamp cluster.

Ascent and Ascent Sport variants feature a stronger front bumper, a lower grille that runs the full width of the car, and a more prominent Toyota logo at the front that is flanked by chrome 'wings' and new headlight clusters. New 10-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels are fitted to Ascent Sport while 16-inch steel wheels are retained for Ascent.

The more aggressive design for SX and ZR Corolla hatch is distinguished by a piano-black honeycomb mesh pattern for the upper grille and a hexagonal lower grille between sculpted bezels that emphasise the car's low, wide stance. The sporty image for these two grades is completed by front, side and rear skirts, a roof-mounted rear spoiler and newly developed 17-inch alloy rims with brighter, machined highlights.

Range-topping ZR Corolla hatch is equipped for the first time with Bi-LED headlights and LED daytime running lamps. Other models have halogen lamps. Foglamps are standard above Ascent.

All grades are now equipped with a shark-fin antenna. There are eight exterior colours, including new Blue Gem and Citrus.

Higher cabin quality
A more sophisticated interior results from a reduction in the visual mass of the dashboard design, cleaner integration of the instruments and a more consistent shape and finish to surfaces and trim.

Detail elements such as the air vents, door handles and gear-lever surround have been redesigned for a crisper, higher quality appearance.

Ascent's updated audio system features a new 6.1-inch touch-screen display, AM/FM tuner, single CD player, USB and iPod®# audio, AUX, Bluetooth®^ connectivity and information such as fuel efficiency history.

Ascent Sport's audio system is enhanced with a new seven-inch touch-screen display and the introduction of Toyota Link" connected mobility with apps that can help drivers find a destination, fuel and weather details as well as roadside and other assistance.

In Corolla SX and ZR hatch, the seven-inch touch-screen also displays satellite navigation** maps with real-time traffic updates, giving drivers the option of navigating to destinations found through the Toyota Link system.

For a small fee, drivers of these models can use Destination Assist## to request the help of an operator to find a particular destination. The destination and contact details are sent to the vehicle using the Destination Download## app.

New instruments for all models feature a cool blue illumination - a three-gauge design for Ascent and Ascent Sport and a double-gauge set-up for the SX and ZR, separated by a 4.2-inch colour multi-information display.

Revised steering wheels have V-shaped ornamentation extending below the horn pad to match the satin chrome-plated highlights throughout the more up-market cabin, giving a sportier and more harmonious interior feel.

Seat trims include black fabric for the first two grades, sporty black-and-orange for the SX and black with leather accents for ZR.

Lower fuel consumption
Australian cars are fitted with the most powerful Corolla engine available in the world, a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with dual variable valve timing and maximum power of 103kW.

The 2ZR-FE engine features an acoustic controlled induction system to boost torque at low-to-mid engine speeds.

Efficiency gains across the board result in fuel consumption with the six-speed manual gearbox improving to 6.7 litres/100km* (from 7.1 litres).

Corolla's revised seven-speed Multi-Drive automatic transmission uses substantially less fuel with consumption falling to 6.1 litres/100km* - an improvement of half a litre.

Contributing factors include quicker heating of the Multi-Drive transmission fluid at start-up and the adoption of an oil-pump system with two modes that lower drive torque. A revised transmission case reduces noise and vibration.

Paddle shifters in auto SX and ZR grades have been redesigned to make them easier to use.

Greater ride comfort and handling stability
Revisions to the front and rear suspension have improved initial roll damping, minimised friction and enhanced straight-line ride comfort.

Corolla's MacPherson strut front suspension now incorporates revised front shock absorbers, stabiliser bushes and coils to improve ride comfort as well as handling stability.

The coil shape has been changed with lateral force-reducing springs utilised to aid ride comfort while the twist resistance of the strut bearing has been reduced, contributing to steering feel.

A fluoropolymer coating has been applied to the inner surface of the stabiliser bush, aiding ride comfort with a smoother stroke. Shock absorbers have been retuned for even better handling stability while enhanced response contributes to ride comfort.

Damping force characteristics of Corolla's torsion-beam rear suspension have also been retuned to support enhanced ride comfort, handling and stability.

A preload differential promotes smoother take-off and manoeuvring on normal or slippery roads, a more stable steering feel at constant highway speeds and greater straight-line stability on rough roads.

Mapping of the electric power steering has been tuned for additional steering weight as vehicle speed increases.

All models now include Hill-start Assist Control^^, which helps prevent the car rolling back on an incline between the driver releasing the brake and applying the accelerator. The improved system detects when the vehicle is on an incline and automatically holds the brakes for up to two seconds.

Sales success
Corolla is Toyota's most popular model in Australia with total sales of more than 1.3 million cars in 48 years.

In each of the past two years, Corolla has led its hotly contested market segment and claimed the title as Australia's best-selling car.

It is also leading this year's title race with sales of almost 17,600 cars to the end of May, giving it a lead of close to 1,300 sales.

Toyota Service Advantage
Corolla hatch, like all new Toyota vehicles, is covered by Toyota Service Advantage. There is a capped price of $140 for each of up to six scheduled logbook services in the first three years or 60,000km+.

Camry Major Upgrade - May 21 2015

New 2015 Camry
Camry's latest upgrade is far more extensive than usual with a sweeping redesign from bumper to bumper and the arrival of a dynamic Australian-developed sports version produced exclusively for local customers.

New-look Camry is also available for the first time with a suite of potentially life-saving technologies, including a pre-collision safety system designed to help avoid an accident or reduce the severity of an impact*.

The scope of Camry's transformation extends emphatically to the bottom line with customers paying up to $5,000 less compared with the equivalent car in the superseded range.

Prices start at $26,490# for petrol variants, which is the cheapest launch price on an automatic Camry in at least 18 years - even though today's car is three generations newer and has significantly expanded safety, comfort and convenience features.

Even more aggressive is Toyota's value-focused drive-away strategy on all grades - adding just $2,500 to cover all on-road costs including dealer delivery and, where specified, optional paint (usually $450).
